Position: Public Relations and Communications Officer
Matilda Offei-Akoto is a seasoned communications and public relations professional with over 15 years of experience in media management, corporate communications, and social impact advocacy. She has built an extensive career across some of Ghana's leading media and communications institutions, including the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation in Accra and Tamale, and the Graphic Communications Group Limited.
Passionate about social development and community impact, Matilda currently serves as the Communications and Administrative Officer at the Ghana Foundation for Sickle Gene Action. In this role, she leads media, public relations, and administrative initiatives that support advocacy, awareness creation, and resource mobilization to improve healthcare and quality of life for persons living with sickle cell disease.
Prior to this, she served as the External Communications Coordinator for the Sickle Cell Foundation of Ghana, where she coordinated public and media relations activities, events, and programmes focused on sickle cell awareness and advocacy.
Matilda also worked as the Assistant Head of Public Relations at Global Media Alliance, where she supervised communication strategies for both client and in-house projects. Her professional journey further includes her role as Producer at 3FM 92.7, a subsidiary of Media General, where she produced the programmes "Ideal Home" and "Positive Pulse". Her contributions played a key role in strengthening audience engagement and increasing listenership during the station’s early years. She also served as a Communications Officer at Stratcomm Africa.
Matilda believes true success lies in using one's knowledge, experience, and platform to positively impact lives and contribute to meaningful societal change.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from the Ghana Institute of Journalism and a Master’s Degree in Development Management from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, Accra.
Matilda is a member of the Institute of Public Relations Ghana and Women in PR Ghana.
